                  The Guide to Skin Hydration

Article from Watsons Skin Simple

Skin oiliness can be a sign that your moisturizer is not hydrating enough.
70% of the human body is made of water and 15% of the water is stored in the stratus corneum of the skin. If there is insufficient replenishment, the water content in the skin will decrease and your skin will become dry, resulting in the formation of wrinkles on the face and crow's feet around the eyes. Learn the following hydration techniques to prevent premature skin ageing:

1. Daily washing of the face leads to water loss, a fact exacerbated if you use hot water. Therefore, use warm water to clean the face instead and apply a long-lasting moisturizing product while skin is still damp. If your skin is very dry, you can try using a serum before your regular facial cream. Serums have very small particles and therefore can penetrate deeper into the skin and moisturize skin more effectively. It can also enhance the subsequent absorption of nutrients from your moisturizer.

2. Don't think that oily skin doesn't need hydration. When skin is dehydrated, it secretes oil to combat surface dryness. Therefore, oily skin does not indicate sufficient hydration. It is actually a sign of dehydration. To hydrate oily skin, you should choose an oil-free moisturizer. If you find that you need to resort to using oil blotting paper for more than 3 times in the day, this means that your current skin care product cannot hydrate your skin properly. It is time to opt for another moisturizing product.

3. Glycerin and Urea are ingredients that can prevent water loss and retain water in the skin. They also attract water molecules in the air to the skin, so opt for skin products that contain these ingredients to keep skin hydrated. You can also add a few drops of olive oil into a bowl of hot water and then bend over and steam the face. This can help to moisturize skin and increase skin's water holding capacity.

4. Eat more food containing Vitamin B5, E and F. Food rich in Vitamin B5, such as eggs, whole grains and corn, can hydrate the skin and reduce wrinkles. Foods rich in Vitamin E, such as almond and milk, can prevent oxidation, moisturize skin and lock in moisture. Vitamin F is found in soy, seaweed and green vegetables; it also has good hydrating power and prevents skin flaking.

5. If you are working for long periods of time in an air-conditioned room, you can place a large bowl of water beside you in order to increase the humidity. You can also use a moisturizing spray and apply onto face whenever the skin feels dry.
